Definition and Usage

The DATE_SUB() function returns a date after a certain time/date interval has been subtracted.

Syntax

DATE_SUB(date, INTERVAL value unit)

Parameter Values

Parameter Description
date Required. The date to be modified
value Required. The value of the time/date interval to subtract. You can specify positive and negative values for this parameter
unit Required. The unit type of the interval. Can be one of the following values:
  • MICROSECOND
  • SECOND
  • MINUTE
  • HOUR
  • DAY
  • WEEK
  • MONTH
  • QUARTER
  • YEAR
  • SECOND_MICROSECOND
  • MINUTE_MICROSECOND
  • MINUTE_SECOND
